How to transform a parking lot into a place of social encounters?
Eager to design the exterior layout of the restaurant space, the Raketa studio began with the premise that the garden and entrance area take overwhelming precedence over the parking lot. At the forefront of the solution we placed a wall as a dramatic foil and contrast to the chaotic traffic beyond. Erecting a concrete monolith more than 10 meters long – one might say a sculpture – establishes a new relationship between the busy city intersection, the parking area and the privacy of the hospitality venue. In spite of its small size, the project calls into question the seeming efficacy of the parking lot.
